Dudnyk employees raised funds to purchase and donate Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for two Horsham-area youth organizations, The Goddard School and YSC Soccer Club. AEDs are life-saving devices that provide electric shocks to people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death among student athletes. There is a 70 percent increased chance of survival when an AED device is used, and proximity and timing are critical factors for success.
Through its partnership with Simon’s Heart, an organization that raises awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in children, Dudnyk learned of the need to have AED devices in areas where children learn and play.
“Everyone who works at Dudnyk has embraced the agency’s efforts to promote Simon’s Heart with great enthusiasm. Raising awareness of sudden cardiac arrest is a tremendous responsibility and privilege,” said Christopher Tobias, PhD, President, Dudnyk. “I am especially proud and grateful that our team went above and beyond, raising funds that allowed us to purchase and donate two AEDs that could potentially saves lives of the youth right here in Horsham.”
