Dudnyk employees like going to work and they’re quick to tell others how they feel. It was their collective comments in the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania annual survey that led to the company’s 19th place ranking. The survey and awards program is sponsored through a partnership of Pennsylvania governmental agencies and the Central Penn Business Journal. Dudnyk was recognized at the Best Places to Work in PA awards banquet held on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, PA. The event's theme of "Work Hard, Play Hard" is certainly evident in the agency's culture.
Companies from across the state participated in a two-part process to determine who would be acknowledged as the best business entities. Each company was evaluated on its workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics, and responses to an employee survey that measured employee experience.
Eighty-one percent of Dudnyk’s employees completed the confidential survey, which asked “what does [Dudnyk] do that makes it a place where people would want to work?” Here are a few of the anonymous responses.
“The company is very receptive to employee feedback. A lot of changes made during the past year were the result of employee feedback.”
“The emphasis on the importance of work-life balance is unusual in our industry.”
“Our culture is very unique and cool. The work we do is truly meaningful and helps to further educate health care practitioners and their patients.”
"There is a real focus on continuous learning and growing your skills. We devote tremendous amounts of time to giving back to our community.”
“Managers provide the environment for employees to succeed by allowing the flexibility to perform their job responsibilities in the way they desire...”
Kathie Carnes, VP, Human Resources, believes that creating a culture that supports happy and productive employees begins with the hiring process. “One of the key questions we seek to answer for every potential hire is, ‘Will this candidate flourish in our culture?’”
